A little something to brighten your Monday morning:
Over the last few months we have had the privilege to get to know the team at the Dispensary of Hope. We think more people need to know about their incredible work. Based in Nashville, this non-profit organization is changing people’s lives. The Dispensary of Hope collects and re-distributes excess medicines from manufacturers, distributors and providers to charitable clinics and pharmacies. In this way, they ensure that these life-changing medicines make their way to the hands of the people who need them, instead of going to waste.
Last week they received the Catholic Health Association’s (CHA) Achievement Citation award. This award is given to organizations that create original, bold, innovative programs that deliver measurable results for those they serve and inspire the broader community to action. The Dispensary of Hope demonstrates an innovative, ethical and impressively scalable model for solving an important problem at both ends of the spectrum: the cost and environmental impact of destroying unused medicines cannot be understated, while the need for the medicines by an underserved and underinsured community is clear. The Dispensary of Hope connects these two problems with a unique solution, all the while providing compassionate, dignified care.
